Seville, Spain, gold cob 2 escudos, 1589 date to right, assayer Gothic D below denomination II and mintmark S to left, NGC MS 65, finest known in NGC census. Cal-831; Fr-169. 6.78 grams. Super-sharp full shield and cross, the latter lustrous but the former with evidence of die-rust, bold S-II-D to left and bottom part of date to right with penultimate digit 8 deceivingly flat on the bottom followed by fairly clear tail of a 9, exceptional grade shared by no other dated examples.
