Sun Fire Office, London, Great Britain, fire insurance policy with a total sum insured of 1000 pounds, dated 28th March 1850 to 28th March 1851, policy number 1621870, stamped with a chop of 1 shilling for stamp duty, the document featuring two of its firemen and a sun face with sixteen rays alternating straight and wavy in the emblem at top. The Sun Fire Office operated from 1710 until 1959, when it merged with the Alliance Assurance Company, which then merged with Royal Insurance to form the Royal & Sun Alliance Insurance Group in 1996. Very Fine with typical folding creases necessary for large documents.
