SURINAME. Surinaamsche Bank. 10 Gulden, 1939. P-78. PMG Very Fine 25.
Red and black, vignettes depicting local industries such as fishing, agriculture, timbering and mining at each corner, central guilloche with '10' at each corner, 'WAARDELOOS' (No Value) perforation twice diagonally. Not illustrated in the Standard Catalog and, as with every denomination in this series, completely unpriced in that source. This is the only example on the PMG population report but we sold a raw note in restored Fine condition in September 2022 for USD$11,400 (including Buyer's Premium). An ungraded specimen note was sold in April 2017. This a far superior note with vibrant colors. A fabulous opportunity to acquire such a striking note. It will be a long time before another appears on the market! PMG comments "Perforation Cancelled, Rust".
