L•HOSTILIVS nude Gallic warrior standing left in galloping biga right, brandishing spear in right hand, shield in left, driver with reins in right hand, whip in left, SASERN below, 3.72g, (Crawford, 448/2a; Sydenham, 952; Hostilia 2) Handsomely struck with marvellous detail on the obverse, lustrous, reverse slightly softened and off-centre, but otherwise good very fine, a terrific example of a great rarity and an iconic portrait.
