'Abbasid Caliphate. Al-Muktafi. AH 289-295 / AD 902-908. AR Dirham (25.5mm, 2.77 g, 2h). Makka mint. Dated AH 291 (AD 903/4). Obverse field: without the name of Wali al-dawla. SICA 10, 489; SCC 1429. Cleaned, with patchy, dark glossy toning. Good Fine. Rare.

While virtually all 'Abbasid precious coins dated AH 291 name the vizier Wali al-dawla, he is never cited on gold or silver issues struck in Mecca during this year.
