Ottoman Empire. Selim II. AH 974-982 / AD 1566-1574. Cylindrical iron upper (trussel) die (27.1mm, 131.22 g). Without mint-name. Undated. Ruler apparently named as Selim Shah bin Sulayman Shah; 'azz nasruhu in bottom line but without mint or date. Some corrosion (partly obscuring the first two lines). Near VF. Extremely rare.
This appears to be a die made for striking silver dirhams. The impression is of good style, but it is not clear whether it is an official production or a forger's die used to make contemporary counterfeits
