This dinar omits the name of any 'Abbasid caliph. The Samanids continued to recognise al-Mustakfi until AH 343, even though he had been deposed in AH 334 and died in AH 337. Al-Muti', who succeeded al-Mustakfi, seems not to have been acknowledged on the Samanid gold coinage until AH 345.
