ISLANDS OFF THRACE, Samothrace. Circa 500-465 BC. Diobol (Silver, 10 mm, 0.97 g). Sphinx crouching left, wearing a 'cap' with a plume; she raises her right forepaw and, with her left hindpaw, scratches her side; border of dots. Rev. Quadripartite incuse square. Gérin A4.l (this coin). W. Schwabacher, Kiourpet, 4 and pl. XI, 4a-d. SNG Lockett 1210. Rare. Nicely toned and well-centered. Nearly extremely fine.
