MACEDON. Neapolis. Circa 500-480 BC. Obol (Silver, 9.5 mm, 0.92 g). Facing gorgoneion with protruding tongue. Rev. Quadripartite incuse square. Rosen 381. SNG ANS 423. Traité II, 1, 1742. Weber 1806. With a powerful and frightening head of a gorgon, nicely toned. Slightly rough surfaces as usual, otherwise, nearly extremely fine.
