DYNASTS OF LYCIA. Uncertain dynast, Circa 380-370 BC. Obol (Silver, 10 mm, 0.59 g, 1 h). Murex shell. Rev. Ketos to right. Classical Numismatic Group MBS 70, 2005, 305 (same dies). Müseler VII, 95 (but a hemiobol at 0.33 g). Very rare. A particularly fine example of this enigmatic coinage. Attractively toned and well-struck. Extremely fine.

The obverse type of this coin was used in the coinage of Mithrapata, but this coin is unlikely to have been struck for him since his coinage invariably bears his name. This, being anepigraphic, almost certainly was minted for someone else.
