KINGS OF MACEDON. Philip II, 359-336 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 25 mm, 14.40 g, 6 h), Pella, struck under Philip III Arrhidaios, circa 323/2-315. Laureate head of Zeus to right. Rev. ΦΙΛΙΠ - ΠΟΥ Nude jockey riding horse walking to right, holding long palm branch in his right hand and the reins in his left; below horse, coiled serpent; to right, Boeotian shield. Le Rider 525b (D279/R433, this coin). SNG ANS 450. Attractively toned and with an elegant portrait of Zeus, a lovely coin. Tiny die breaks on the obverse and reverse, otherwise, extremely fine.
