THRACE. Abdera. Circa 473/0-449/8 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 28 mm, 15.07 g, 6 h), struck under the magistrate Artemon. Griffin seated and rearing up to left. Rev. AP-TE-MΩN Kantharos within linear border; around, magistrate's name followed by an ivy leaf. AMNG II 71. May, Abdera, 187 var. (A151/R- struck from an unrecorded reverse die). An extremely rare, and particularly beautiful coin; only three examples known, none with this reverse die. Some flatness, otherwise, about extremely fine.
