ATTICA. Athens. Circa 454-404 BC. Drachm (Silver, 15 mm, 4.29 g, 4 h), late 440s - early 430s. Head of Athena to right, wearing crested Attic helmet adorned with three olive leaves and an upwardly turned palmette. Rev. ΑΘΕ Owl standing right with head facing; to left, olive spray; all within incuse square. HGC 4, 1631. Kroll 10. SNG Copenhagen 41-3. Svoronos pl. 11, 19. A particularly pleasing example, nicely centered on both sides. Somewhat porous surfaces, otherwise, extremely fine.
