EASTERN EUROPE. Imitating Thasos. After 148 B.C. AR tetradrachm. 16.67 gm. 33 mm. Head of Dionysos right, wearing ivy wreath and taenia / Herakles standing left holding club and lion skin; M to left. HGC 6, 359. Prokopov, Silberprägung group XII. Good Very Fine; dramatic old toning and style; well centered and struck so sharply it caused some waviness and striking splits on its broad slightly irregular flan. Pleasing example of this fascinating series.
