MYSIA. Pergamon. Circa 166-67 BC. Cistophorus (Silver, 27 mm, 12.62 g, 12 h), circa 88-85. Cista mystica from which snake coils; around, ivy wreath with fruits. Rev. Two snakes coiled around a bow case; between the snake heads, ΑP above monogram of ΠPY; to left, monogram of ΠΕΡΓ; to right, thyrsos entwined by a serpent. Kleiner, Hoard, 27. Pinder 104. SNG Paris 1729. A sharply struck example with beautiful iridescent toning. Good extremely fine.
