Bareheaded and bearded bust right; in outer margin, "the second indiction" in Greek / Name and title of Dhu'l-Qarnayn in Arabic in three lines across field; in outer margin, "the great Amir Dhu'l-Qarnayn" in Greek. Whelan Type A; Album 1240. Fair, brown patina. Rare.

The Muslim Danishmendids ruled over an overwhelmingly Christian population and the legends on their coins are often rendered in either full or partial Greek as a concession to their subjects.
