CRUSADERS: KINGDOM OF JERUSALEM: Anonymous, ca. 1160-1210, AV bezant (3.98g), Metcalf-6, in the name of the Fatimid ruler al-Âmir (1101-1130), mint of Acre, an attractive mint state example, NGC graded MS61. Bezants can be readily distinguished by their Arabic calligraphy, which gradually degenerates from slightly coarse to utterly meaningless between the first issues at some point after the conquest of Sur (Tyre) in 1124 until the expulsion of the Crusaders from Acre in 1291.
