ITALY: SET of 22 medals, complete set of 22 different bronze matte finish 44mm medals by E. Monti and struck by S. Johnson, mostly dated Fascist era year 14; For the Ethiopian Campaign and Proclamation of the Italian Empire, all in UNC quality, set in red deluxe case, set of 22 medals. The Second Italo-Ethiopian War was a war of aggression which was fought between Italy and Ethiopia from October 1935 to February 1937. In Ethiopia it is often referred to simply as the Italian Invasion, and in Italy as the Ethiopian War. It is seen as an example of the expansionist policy that characterized the Axis powers and the ineffectiveness of the League of Nations before the outbreak of the Second World War. On Saturday, May 9, 1936, the "Italian Empire" was established by proclamation by Benito Mussolini and in the course of this, Victor Emmanuel III, the King of Italy, assumed the title of "Emperor of Abyssinia." Fascist Italy declared the Abyssinian War victoriously over and all territories subordinated to the sovereignty of Italy.
