UMAYYAD: AE fals (1.38g), al-Mahfuza, ND, A-E204, obverse legend duriba hadha / al-fals bi'a- / -l-mahfuza, traditional reverse muhammad / rasul / Allah; carefully preserved by the consignor, VF, RRR. This is the third known fals of al-Mahfuza, which was founded by al-Hakam b.'Awana about AH112, the second Umayyad governor of Sind. After a few years, al-Hakam replaced al-Mahfuza with his second foundation, the town of al-Mansura, which became the capital of Sind for more than 300 years.
