ISLAMIC: ABBASID: LOT of 117 copper fulus, all of type A-A326, struck at Jabal al-Fidda ("silver mountain") and dated AH155, citing the officials Ruh and 'Iyad; nearly all of lesser quality, some with legible mint & date, some showing the names of the two officials; average VG to Fine condition, many with some weakness; retail value $2000, lot of 117 pieces. This group is likely the lower quality portion of the recent hoard of Jabal al-Fidda AH155 fulus; there are only 12 better quality piece from this consignment, to appear as a group lot in this auction. There have already been a few dozen better quality piece sold at various auctions since 2018. Unless there is another concealed portion of the hoard, it is likely that the better examples will retain most of their value as established in the auctions since 2020. The Jabal al-Fidda AH147 & 148 fulus appear to remain extremely rare, and there were none in this consignment. There were also about 30 fulus of the Herat fals dated AH147, further evidence that Jabal al-Fidda indeed lay close to Herat.

Estimate: 500-800 USD
