TAIFAS ALMORAVIDES: Anonymous, 1146-1155, AV dinar (4.03g), Sijilmasa, AH"538", A-405var, unknown to Vives y Escudero and Hazard, later imitation in the name of Tashufin b. 'Ali (1142-1145), probably struck after about AH544 (1149 AD), based on the normal dinar of Tashufin b. 'Ali struck at various mints in both Spain & North Africa, but distinguished by the crudely engraved calligraphy, unpublished, EF, RRR. The mint name Sijilmasa suggests that dinars of type A-405 were struck primarily in North Africa, and sometimes in Spain.
