TAHIRID: Tahir I, 821-822, AR dirham (2.98g), Herat, AH203 (sic), A-1391A, Lowick-2241, citing the governor al-Shukr b. Ibrahim, some discoloration, VF-EF, RRR. The date is clearly 203 (thalath wa mi'tayn), which is likely a die-cutter's error for 206, the only proper date for this type. This date can also be regarded as purely Abbasid, as did Lowick, because Tahir did not declare his independence until AH205 (821 AD).
