ZANGIDS OF SYRIA: 'Imad al-Din Zangi, 1127-1146, BI dirham aswad (0.36g), NM, ND, A-C1848, cf. Zeno-143932, citing the caliph al-Muqtafi (AH530-555), VG-F, RRR. This type was once incorrectly assigned to the Burid ruler Tughtakin, but is now confirmed for the Zangids of Syria, with one example known dated AH536 (sold in our Auction 41, Lot 506).
