GREAT MONGOLS: Chingiz Khan, 1206-1227, AV dinar (6.83g), Bukhara, DM, A-1964, with the name chingiz khan below la sharik lahu on the obverse, and with an uncertain word below the reverse, with the mint name Bukhara visible in the obverse marginal legend; flan defect, unpublished and likely unique, VF, RRRR. The style and calligraphy is identical to the relatively common type A-B1967, with the mint name Bukhara below both the obverse and reverse, presumably introduced shortly after the death of Chingiz Khan; no dated example has yet been reported of this later anonymous type, which shares the unusual letter "h" in the name Muhammad in the reverse kalima. A very similar anonymous dinar of Samarqand is known dated AH625, one year after the death of Chingiz Khan (sold in our Auction 38, Lot 526).
