João VI 960 Reis 1821-R MS61 NGC, Rio de Janeiro mint, KM326.1, LMB-479. Overstruck on a Spain 1815 C-CJ 8 Reales. Bearing a deep strike which rendered the motifs to its fullest, yet also not obscuring key ID features of this exceedingly scarce host coin. The 1815 host-date is fully visible under the 960 Reis' crown, while mint, assayer and denomination are easily discernible flanking the globe. For some 960 Reis collectors, a perfect balance between a full strike and host visibility, accompanied by needle-point motifs and a prestigious pedigree. Sold with original collector's flip.
