Republic gold 4 Escudos 1837 So-IJ AU55 NGC, Santiago mint, KM95. Mintage: 321. This date is the more scarce of the two for this 2-year "Hand on Constitution" type. With a mintage well under 500, this choice Almost Uncirculated offering is certainly among the finest known still in existence (only two better at NGC). Bright canary yellow appearance and fully-rendered detail overshadow some light surface friction.
