L. Calpurnius Piso Frugi. 90 BC. AR Denarius (17mm, 4.04 g, 12h). Rome mint. Laureate head of Apollo right; three pellets behind / Horseman, holding palm frond and reins, galloping right; D above. Crawford 340/1; Sydenham 664e; Calpurnia 11; RBW –. Toned with some light iridescence, banker's mark on obverse, reverse struck somewhat off center. VF. An uncommon control pair and dies; none in CNR, one in CoinArchives, two in Schaefer - all from the same die pair.
