France, Exposition Internationale, Paris and the Olympic Games, 1900, silvered-bronze plaquette, by Louis-Oscar Roty (1846-1911), winged youth, the new century, takes the torch from the declining figure of the old, rev. the avenue of pavilions, 26mm. x 51mm., unnamed, but as given to Judges and Referees (Maier 104; Marx pl. 19; Grundy - cover; Gad. 3); "Le Nid" (The Nest), small silver plaquette, 1906, by Jean-Baptiste Daniel Dupuis (1849-1899), young and naked girl kneeling on rock, discovering bird's nest in a tree, signed at base, rev. cherubic child on tree-branch feeding a bird, an additional engraved monogram, dated 1906 and dedication, 66mm. x 37mm. (Maier 121; CGMP p.175; BDM I, 666; BM Acq 1983-7, p.20, 67), both typically Art Nouveaux, very fine or a little better (2)
The additional legend is for an engagement "ALBO LAPILLO NOTARE DIEM" [Mark the day with a white stone], "où ami Charles tu fondes une famille par dela les mers. Gal Tétard".
