Valentinian I (AD 364-375). AV solidus (21mm, 4.47 gm, 6h).  Antioch, AD 364-367. D N VALENTINI-ANVSE (sic) P F AVG, pearl-diademed, draped and cuirassed bust of Valentinian right, bust seen from front / RESTITVTOR REIPVBLICAE, Valentinian standing facing in military dress, head right, holding in right vexillum emblazoned with chi-rho, and in left Victory on globe, ANTB• in exergue. RIC IX --, cf. 2(a)xiii2 (no extra E in obverse legend). An apparently unpublished variant with the emperor's name spelled "VALENTINIANVSE." Well struck from dies of fine style. NGC MS★ 4/5 - 4/5.
