ROMAN EMPIRE. Claudius - Philip I. Lot of three ancient plated coins.  An interesting group of "unofficial" issues, including: (1) Claudius (AD 41-54). AR/Æ plated (fourrée) denarius ( 18mm, 2.91 gm, 11h). Romano-British mint. Laureate head of Claudius right / Nemesis walking right, spitting into fold of dress. Cf. RIC I 39 and RSC 58. A few surface defects, otherwise Extremely Fine with no breaks in plating  // (2) Vitellius (AD 69). AR/Æ plated (fourrée) denarius (18mm, 3.13 gm, 6h). Laureate head of Vitellius right / Concordia seated left.  Cf. RIC 90 and RSC 18. Dark "find" patina. NGC Choice VF 4/4 - 4/5 // (3) Philip I (AD 244-249).  AR/Æ plated (fourrée) antoninianus (23mm, 4.50 gm, 12h). Radiate, draped and cuirassed bust of Philip right / Fides standing left holding staff and signa. Cf. RIC IV 34b and  RSC 58 (but style of Antioch). A few breaks in plating revealing copper core, otherwise Mint State.
