George VI Proof Halfpenny 1947-(P), Perth mint, PR64 Red and Brown PCGS. Mostly faded red throughout with glossy surfaces indicative of Australian proof strikings of the era. Close inspection yields some iridescent tone mixed into the surfaces as well as some central as-made planchet chatter (similar to the proof penny of the same date in this sale) that remains on the highpoints. No post-strike flaws are apparent. An extremely rare issue for Australia, with only a handful of examples known to the market. A major opportunity for the specialist and one that is likely to remain unduplicated for the foreseeable future.
