Brazil gold 6400 Reis 1769-R West Indies Imitation, Choice Uncirculated. 11.00 grams. A superior example of this charming contemporary counterfeit issue, made to circulate in the West Indies and the United States. Mint State examples such as the present coin are rarely seen since most of them were passed into circulation (as evidenced by the many West Indian countermarking operations to regulate them, and the similar operations performed by US goldsmiths). At 11.00 grams, this example is clearly below the standard but was struck in good gold.
