Edward VII Specimen 10 Cents 1902-H, Heaton mint, KM10, SP68 PCGS. Flawless in every sense of the word, and nearly fully white throughout, with effulgent, satiny luster that engulfs the surfaces and fully struck design motifs on each side. Edward VII officially became King on January 22, 1901, however his coronation ceremony wasn't held until over a year and a half later on August 9, 1902, and likewise no coins bore his titles until this year. With little information available, it seems plausible that specimen sets of this date, comprised of the 5, 10 and 25 cent denominations were minted and distributed in extremely limited quality to commemorate the coronation. Whatever the actual reason behind their existence, we know today that issues from 1902 are among the rarest, and as a result most desirable of all 20th century specimen types. The present coin, being tied with one other example for the distinction of "finest known" at PCGS, must therefore be elevated even further in its numismatic importance. Simply put, an elite coin that deserves placement in a most-distinguished cabinet. From The Prager Collection of Canadian Specimen Coins
