George V Specimen 5 Cents 1934, Ottawa mint, KM29, SP68 PCGS. The most available George V Specimen date from the 1930s, but considering the generally accepted mintage of around a dozen set, still a major rarity, with few examples ever coming to market. The present example, not only a rarity in the absolute sense, is also one conditionally, as it is tied for the finest graded example of ALL the George V 5 cents. And the finest it certainly is! The surfaces, satiny in appearance, remain in absolutely pristine condition without a flaw to speak of. Barely perceivable golden tone highlights the devices, but the surfaces remain absolutely free of the tiny spots that nickel pieces tend to acquire. In fact, if graded SP69, we wouldn't even bat an eyelid. An absolute marvel of a coin and one that demands repeated inspection.Ex: Jack Alston Collection (Heritage 8/01, Lot-7216).From The Prager Collection of Canadian Specimen Coins
