George V Specimen 25 Cents 1934, Ottawa mint, KM24a, SP65 PCGS. One could say that a great collection can make extreme rarity look common. If fact, the Prager Collection has accomplished that task quite impressively. In the previous lot, we were just extolling the fact that we had never sold a 1934 Specimen dime. Here, one lot later, we must do the same with a quarter - for the first time, we are proud to offer an example of the 1934 Specimen 25 cents. While their scant mintage dictates that all denominations from the 1934 set are extremely rare, it might be that the largest denominations in the set, the quarter and half dollar, are most prohibitive. Missing from Norweb and Belzberg (with no early Specimen issues in the Canadiana Collection), the only modern auction appearance that we have been able to track is from the 1999 John Pittman Collection offering of the complete 1934 Specimen Set. The population reports likely confirm this presumption as PCGS and NGC combined have only certified one example - the present coin! - in their collective history and the likelihood of another example selling "raw" in this modern age is unlikely. The coin itself remains as a Gem should, fully lustrous and well struck. Whispers of tone touch both sides, but the overall appearance is one of brilliance. What more can we say than, "another monumental opportunity!".From The Prager Collection of Canadian Specimen Coins

Estimate: 12000-18000 USD
