Newfoundland. Victoria Pattern Specimen Cent 1864, NF-6, Bowman-25, SP64 Red and Brown PCGS. Plain Edge - Medal Alignment. Presenting much like a carefully preserved business strike, with surfaces that maintain large amounts of original red color, but don't hold the overall sharpness or field reflectivity of many Specimen issues. Similar to the adopted design, but showing the simpler VICTORIA QUEEN legend on the obverse with several leaves missing along the upper portions of the reverse wreath as well (used in NF-7 as well). Quite possibly the earliest Pattern type to be struck for Newfoundland, with neither design ultimately being used for circulating coinage. Tied with one other example at PCGS for the finest graded (with one other numerically tied example graded SP64 Brown) and perfectly suited for the numismatic historian. From The Prager Collection of Canadian Specimen Coins

Estimate: 5000-7000 USD
