People's Republic of China. Qinhu Leprosy Hospital Five-piece Set of Plastic Leprosy Tokens ND (ca. 1980's), the set consists of a 29 mm lavender 1 Cent, 33mm light blue 5 Cent, 39mm dark blue 10 Cent, 44mm colorless 50 Cent, and a 49mm colorless plastic 1 Dollar, that for some unknown reason has been painted red on the obverse, all good XF in terms of wear. Each piece is circular with a central hole. The obverse reads, in Chinese, along the top, "Tai Kee Chin Lake," and at the bottom are characters translating, "For Patient Use." The reverse contains nothing but a small diamond with the letters, "ab-2," probably manufacturers marks. All of these pieces are listed in the book, The Numismatic Aspects of Leprosy, by Roger R. McFadden, John Grost, and Dennis F. Marr as No. 150-154, on pages 19 and 20. The coins offered here are the actual plate coins from the McFadden book. This is an exceedingly rare set; the only such set we have seen and we can reference no other set. From The Collection of Dr. Roger R. McFadden
