Republic gold 8 Escudos 1823 B-JF, Bogota mint, KM82.1, Restrepo-165.3, MS62 NGC. This Mint state specimen shows reflective surfaces and a somewhat soft strike, as usually seen. This first type of 8 Escudos struck by the Independent Colombia was struck at the Popayan and Bogota mints between 1822 and 1836. It is common in worn grades but very elusive in true mint state such as the present specimen.
