Republic bronze Souvenir Peso 1897 PAT 97, Struck by Gorham Manufacturing Company (Providence, RI). KMX-M1a, MS64 Brown NGC, PAT 97 on the truncation of the neck, variety with widely spaced date. A choice example of this important Cuban rarity with abundant deep orange luster in the legends, and just a few scattered surface marks on the obverse. Contrary to popular belief, the PAT 97 design was actually the final circulation design for 1897. Ex Emilio Ortiz collection.
