Cromwell Crown 1658/7, S-3226, ESC-10, AU50 NGC. An endlessly popular type, the legend of Cromwell and the polarizing opinions about his time as Lord Protector of the Commonwealth of England exist to this very day, and is such, fuels the demand for items such as his Crown. This example, rather pleasing as they come, shows honest wear on the highpoints, but few of the large abrasions that are often-times associated with the issue. Adorned with a deep layer of tone that darkens toward the legends, close inspection reveals attractive multi-colored variances. The typical die break across Cromwell's neck is in a rather advanced state. All in all, perfectly pleasing and more than suitable as an addition to a mid-grade set of Crowns.
