George III copper pattern Shield Dollar 1798, by Küchler, ESC-174 (R3), PR66 BN PCGS, a fabulously preserved example of this unusual pattern, bearing the date 1798 instead of the usual 1804 on patterns of this ilk, known to collectors by the reverse shield design. This coin is crisp in all its details, its surfaces are essentially flawless, and its color is a perfect match to the Hershey's milk-chocolate bar. Rarely seen. Superb!
Estimate: 4000-5000 USD
