Victoria gold Sovereign 1851, KM736.1, S-3852C, MS66 PCGS. An second chance to acquire one the very finest early Sovereigns of Victoria that we have ever had the pleasure of handling. While of the same technical quality and appeal as the previous lot, with nearly pristine surfaces and luscious original tone, the present example varies notably in its die state. A die crack (as made) makes its way up from the rim just to the left of six o'clock to Victoria's bust and meanders half way up her neck. At the I in DEI, a similar crack begins, leaving the viewer to question if the two ever met. Tied for the finest seen of the date, with no examples of the type certifying finer at PCGS. Krause catalog price(s) for this item: $350 in VF, $375 in EF, $800 in UNC.
Estimate: 6000-8000 USD
