Genoa (Genova). Biennial Doges gold Scudo d'oro del Sole ND (1528-41), Phase I, Fr-412, MIR-185/8, MS63 NGC. The NGC insert gives the date range specified in Friedberg in error, since the doges resumed minting after the Constitution of 1528. A phenomenal example of this issue, superbly struck. The surfaces are fully lustrous and bear no marks of note.
