Mantua. Carlo II Gonzaga Prova 30 Soldi ND (1647-65), MIR-Unlisted, CNI-43, MS63 NGC. An extremely rare Prova issue, unlisted in MIR and absent from any auction records to which we had access. Die rust and die-polishing lines indicate that it may be a later restrike, although even as such we were unable to find another example of this type. The portrait details are quite sharp and the deep cabinet tone is lovely. A prize for the early-Italian Prova specialist.
