Mexico
Charles IV gold 8 Escudos 1806 Mo-TH, Mexico City mint, KM159, Onza-1042, MS62 NGC. A rather choice piece for the assigned grade, showing limited contact marks and much bloom. A survey of pieces dated 1806 allows to conclude that a rusted or deteriorated punch of the bust was used for some dies of that date, which in turn explains the granularity present in many high grade (or relatively) pieces. This is such a specimen, albeit that characteristic is limited to the upper part of the bust. Very scarce type in this grade.
Estimate: 2700-3000 USD
