Philip V gold cob 8 Escudos 1711 L-M, Lima mint, KM38.2, Onza-239 ("Few Specimens known"), MS62 NGC. No wear apparent, although probably delicately placed in a bezel at one time with 4 very small edge spots that appear upon careful examination. The Onza book rates this variety with the King's name starting at the bottom of the reverse as very rare and this is probably accurate since all of the specimens that appear in past recent sales (this is an otherwise "common" date for this immensely popular type) are of the normal variety, where the King's name starts at the top. Undoubtedly from the 1715 Fleet, this specimen is an attractive specimen of a type that is eagerly sought.

Estimate: 9000-11000 USD
