Ferdinand VI gold 8 Escudos 1758 LM-JM, Lima mint, KM59.2, Onza-588, AU58 NGC. Nearly Uncirculated, with but little rubbing on the higher points of the King's bust, and limited surface marks over rather handsomely toned surfaces. Two small flan laminations in the planchet prior to the strike do not detract from the attractiveness of this specimen. None of the specimens of this type in the Eliasberg collection matched the quality of this coin, and the 1759 date was altogether missing in it (and also missing from the Caballero de las Yndias collection). Overall, a quite desirable example of this very scarce type.
Estimate: 4000-5000 USD
