Alexander I - Crossing of Emperor and Army Beyond Russian Border bronze Medal 1812 (1835), by A. Klepikov and A. Lyalin, Diakov 1769 (R1), Smirnov 378, 65mm, MS63 PCGS. Housed an oversized PCGS holder. Obv. Armored bust of Alexander I left. Rev. Armored Emperor on charger led by Victory and Minerva crossing frontier, snake beneath horse's rear hoof. One of Tolstoy's planned 20-medal series recording Russian victories over Napoleon. A beautiful, high-relief design, with prooflike fields and only tiny marks. Very scarce in this Choice condition.
