Alexander II silver Coronation Medal 1856, by A. Lyalin and M. Kuchkin, Diakov-653.1( R1), Smirnov 603/a, 64mm, MS64 NGC. Obv. Portrait of Alexander II right, with date below. Rev. Crowned doubled-headed Imperial eagle with GOD WITH US above. A spectacular example of this largest size official coronation medal. The relief is bold, with fully mirrored fields and only a few wispy hairlines. The obverse impresses with rich cyan and lavender colors, while the reverse is a lighter silver patina with bluish highlights. Very rare in this superb condition.
