Nicholas II silver Coronation Medal 1896, by A. Vasyutinsky, to commemorate the Coronation of Nicholas II and Alexandra Feodorovna, Diakov-1206.2 (R2), Smirnov 1101/b, Choice UNC with the original presentation case, as presented at the Coronation. Obv. Conjoined heads of Nicholas II and Alexandra. Rev. Crowned double-headed Imperial eagle. GOD WITH US above. The medal is in exceptional condition. Full luster beneath steel-gray toning, with blue highlights. The strike is bold, and the surfaces free of notable flaws. Also included is a paper, signed by Naval Commander Eheen that reads, " Senate Bill 2284. Passed February 21 1898, allowing Admiral Selfridge and six other naval officers present at the coronation of the Czar and Czarina of Russia at Moscow in May, 1896, to accept commemorative medals. Admiral Selfridge was Commander of the U.S. Fleet. This appears to be one of those six medals. An intriguing, and very rare piece of U.S.-Russia History.
